SOUTH FLORIDA ADVENTURES HOSTS OUTDOOR SPORTS EXPO
Dozens of Non-Profits, Clubs & Businesses To Participate Dec. 6
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Nov. 25, 2008) – South Florida Adventures, the only magazine and website featuring outdoor sports and fitness in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, is hosting an expo at Oleta River State Park in North Miami on Dec. 6. The Saturday event lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Oleta, located off 163rd Street between Biscayne Boulevard and Collins Avenue, is popular among South Florida residents who mountain bike, trail run, hike and kayak. As of today, 30 non-profits, clubs and businesses have signed up to have tents in a field in the middle of the park. Rock music will be blaring.
The outdoor sports expo is a perfect opportunity for clubs to recruit new members, non-profits to sign up participants for athletic fundraisers and retailers to demo their products as the holiday season kicks in. Non-profits and clubs are participating for free and businesses are being charged a small amount. Additional vendors are welcome to sign up.
According to rangers, Oleta gets 2,000 to 4,000 visitors on a typical Saturday. With promotional efforts, thousands more are expected for the expo.
“We’re not sure how many people will attend,” said David Raterman, SFA’s publisher and editor, “but a tremendous number of vendors—about 30—has signed up since we sent out an informal e-mail on Nov. 14. And we expect several more.
“This is taking on a life of its own. The Ad Fed of Greater Fort Lauderdale is tying in with an adventure race comprised of trail running, mountain biking and kayaking.”
