Crocodile smile

In Everglades National Park The American crocodile is a rare species in our own backyard, living in pockets along the coast of South Florida. Yes, we have large crocs, and the town of Flamingo inside Everglades National Park is one of the best places to find them. Viewing them from a kayak is my preference but we can also see them from the boat docks at Flamingo’s marina, the boat ramp and even from the shore. That’s where I photographed these animals. Brian Call is a local nature photographer who was artist in residence at the Deering Estate at Cutler in 2007. In that role he chronicled Florida’s flora, fauna and architecture through a series of fine art photo exhibits titled Wilderness, Bay Side and Endangered. His photographs have been published in National Parks Magazine, Nature Photographer Magazine and elsewhere. |
