Bridget Marquardt is on a quest to discover the most beautiful beaches in the world.

With that lofty premise, the former girlfriend of Playboy’s Hugh Hefner and star of Girls Next Door visited South Florida to shoot an episode of Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches, her new show on Travel Channel.

According to Girard Middleton of SoBe Surf, Marquardt and crew visited Islamorada as well as South Beach’s 2nd Street beach. Middleton taught her to exercise on the water, where she could showcase her body.

“Bridget and I had an amazing time together filming our stand-up paddle surfing lesson,” Middleton said. “She’s a great athlete. She did well for her first time, especially with the wind blowing so strong.

“She showed a lot of courage and skill getting on the paddle surfboard in high winds, makeup and wearing a mike. She never even fell.”

Middleton not only teaches and sells the stand-up paddle surfboards, which are also known as stand-up paddleboards, but he designed some with August 78, a manufacturer in Hollywood, Fla. Marquardt used one of these.

“I designed them to be very stable, fast and look great on the water without being too bulky or cumbersome, perfect for the Keys and Miami areas,” he said. “They still catch waves well (but) you just have to stay back a little on the drop-in. Then get ready for amazing speed and maneuverability.”

Stand-up paddle surfing is an ancient sport that is gaining popularity on flat water.

“That’s so people can stroll on the water,” said SoBe Surf’s Ben Bradshaw. “This can be very easy and gentle gliding or flat-out sprinting, depending on whether you are looking for a calm, relaxing experience or a hardcore workout.”

Marquardt’s South Beach episode aired on Travel Channel in May.
