About Us

SOUTH FLORIDA ADVENTURES MEDIA GROUP
South Florida Adventures Media Group publishes two magazines, a website and an e-newsletter; in 2010 the University Press of Florida will publish South Florida Adventures: The Book! SFAMG is the only outdoor sports and fitness publisher in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, plus the Everglades and nearby Atlantic. The company is owned by Fort Lauderdale-based Raterman Holdings, Inc.

SOUTH FLORIDA ADVENTURES MAGAZINE
Launched in 2005, the company’s flagship magazine South Florida Adventures was a bimonthly magazine with a controlled circulation of 10,000 copies until January 2008 when it increased to 25,000. With an estimated three readers per copy, the glossy outdoor-sports magazine has 75,000 readers each issue. Distributed at gyms, sporting goods stores and select events, it targets physically active people.

SFA FITNESS MAGAZINE
SFAMG is partnering with Forum Publishing Group, a subsidiary of Sun Sentinel Company, to publish SFA Fitness once a month. The first issue of this glossy magazine will be inserted into City Link MetroMix.com, FPG’s weekly entertainment newspaper, on Sept. 2, 2009. Its audited circulation is 45,000 and an additional 2,000 copies will be printed for a total circulation of 47,000.

City Link Metromix.com is distributed to the mass audience so SFAMG reaches a new market: people who can become physically active. With America’s obesity epidemic and South Florida’s year-round great weather, this fitness magazine fills an important niche.

FPG is a subsidiary of Sun Sentinel Company, which is owned by Tribune Company in Chicago.

THE WEBSITE
SouthFloridaAdventures.com has current news and feature stories as well archived stories from South Florida Adventures magazine. It averages 25,000 page views per month.

THE BOOK
In fall 2010 the University Press of Florida in Gainesville will publish a book about South Florida Adventures. In addition to bringing in revenue and further branding the South Florida Adventures name, the book solidifies the editorial team’s standing at the top of Florida publishing. This is the first time a Florida magazine has been turned into a book by an established publisher.

EVENTS
SFAMG hosts outdoor sports and fitness expos and adventure races throughout the year. The most recent adventure race and expo was at Oleta River State Park in North Miami.
