Sun Sentinel’s Michael Mayo: “Half-Marathon Was A Full Blast”
By Editor • Feb 25th, 2010 • Category: Uncategorized
Congratulations go to Sun Sentinel columnist Michael Mayo, who completed last weekend’s half-marathon associated with the annual Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon.
In a follow-up column, Mayo wrote, “As I hit the finish line of the A1A Half-Marathon along Fort Lauderdale beach on Sunday — my cramping legs shooting fire after 13.1 miles — two thoughts crossed my mind:
1) What kind of masochist would ever want to run a full marathon?
2) Take that, Bob Butterworth!”
Before the race Butterworth, a former Florida attorney general, had mocked the writer’s attempt.
Mayo ran the 13.1-mile race as part of his “bucket list” column series. He describes himself as having a “chunky 43-year-old frame.”
