Cycling groups in South Florida are on a mission to end confrontations with motorists, according to the Sun Sentinel.
The media company reports that “They’re policing their own ranks. Leaders in group rides are making sure riders are following road rules, not taking over traffic lanes when it’s not necessary and being courteous to drivers.”
Cyclists are working with the Florida Department of Transportation to erect signs and they’re encouraging local police departments to enforce biking laws uniformly.
The Sun Sentinel quotes Jeffrey Lynn, executive director of the South Florida Bike Coalition. “We are undertaking a grand social-engineering experiment to see if people can actually co-exist.”
