Death Prompts Recall Of 65,000 Diving Air Hoses

By Editor • Oct 15th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized

SI Tech has recalled 65,000 diving air hoses designed for dry suits after a Los Angeles diver drowned when his hose came loose, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

The media company reports that the Swedish manufacturer has ”received six reports of hoses loosening, including the fatal incident, restricting air flow. The hoses are connected to the air supply and inflate a dry suit, creating positive pressure and keeping the suit watertight.”

The recalled hoses were sold from July 2006 to February 2009.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission said anyone with an SI Tech dry suit inflation hose purchased during the recall period should contact the manufacturer. Those with recalled products can arrange for a free repair or get repair instructions. Call 877-348-3529 or visit SITech.se.
