The 3rd Annual King of the Hill 5K Challenge will take place on Aug. 29 at Vista View Park in Davie. The park sits on 160 acres of the now closed Davie Landfill.
This race, organized by WestSide Online, is open to all runners and includes open and elite heats.
According to an eblast from Weston-based Split Second Timing, the race’s timing company, it “offers 3.1 miles of the toughest, asphalt, 5k course in South Florida! The first mile is completely flat, the second mile offers 800 meters of 20% grade and then the last 800 meters of the race finishes at the apex of the hill! Once you are at the top you can cool down with great refreshments, music, friends and the King of the Hill Awards ceremony.”
The Open 5K starts at 7 a.m. and the Elite 5K starts at 7:45 a.m.
Online pre-registration costs $15 ($10 for students). Race-day registration is $20. For more information e-mail wildsideonline@splitsecondtiming.com or visit SplitSecondTiming.com.
