The Keys100 Ultramarathon was held from May 16 to 17. It included 100-mile runs and 50-milers. According to race director Bob Becker, the ultra-endurance event led runners “through the spectacular scenery and colors of the Florida Keys.”

The winners were Brian Krogmann and Jennifer Vogel in the 100-mile run, Joe Ninke and Erin Churchill in the 50-mile run and the Keys Athletes team in the 100-mile relay race. Among the notable runners was Sister Mary Beth Lloyd, who in June 2008 received the Servitor Pacis Award from the Vatican’s Mission to the United Nations for her work with AIDS orphans. Sister Mary Beth lasted for 40 miles. At age 60, she ran along US1 in her black nun’s habit.

A portion of the proceeds is being donated to the battle against prostate cancer.
