According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, a Boy Scout from Weston died while hiking the Florida Trail on May 9. The hike was a requirement for Michael Sclawy-Adelman to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

“The 17-year-old Nova High School senior died Saturday during a sweltering 20-mile hike on The Florida Trail in Big Cypress National Preserve in Collier County,” Sun-Sentinel.com reports.

“It appeared he was a little overheated and a little dizzy, so we sat him down, gave him some water and put his feet up and let him rest,” the boy’s scoutmaster, Howard Crompton, told the news company. “Then he stopped breathing.”

The teen was a member of Boy Scout Troop 111 which is based in Plantation United Methodist Church. To read the full story click here.
