South Florida Adventures Sprint Adventure Race April 18
By Editor • Apr 1st, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized
South Florida Adventures magazine is hosting a sprint adventure race on Saturday, April 18 at Oleta River State Park in North Miami. Two-person teams will use their skills and stamina to reach checkpoints at different locations within the park, using a map to navigate the terrain.
The trail running portion is three miles, mountain biking lasts 30 to 45 minutes and kayaking takes 30 to 40 minutes. This “sprint” or “short” adventure race is designed for recreational as well as hardcore competitors. Many adventure races last 12 hours or even several days but this one will not intimidate most people.
Oleta, Florida’s largest urban park, is surrounded by Biscayne Bay and Greater Miami’s concrete jungle. The subtropical oasis is famous for off-road bicycle trails built for novices and champions.
The adventure race costs $20 per person. Kayaks, mountain bikes and compasses can be rented if participants don’t have their own. Contact Dave Raterman at draterman@SouthFloridaAdventures.com / 954-683-5336 or register at southfloridaadventures.com/sfa-adventure-race/.
