Cyclist Killed, 2 Others Hurt By Car In Weston

A Coral Springs man was killed on March 7 when he and two other men were struck by a vehicle as they rode their bicycles along State Road 84 in Weston, the Broward Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the Sun Sentinel, Leon Hamer, 63, was taken to Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale, where he later died.
According to the report, Hamer had been riding with two friends eastbound on State Road 84, approaching Glades Parkway, when all three were struck around 8:30 a.m. by an eastbound black 2008 Mercedes. Its driver, investigators said, was Raj Motwani, 34, of Fort Lauderdale.
The other two cyclists were taken to Broward General with injuries that sheriff’s officials said were not life-threatening.
Traffic homicide investigators from Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating the collision. Motwani has not been charged.
