By Editor • Jan 29th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized
Registration is open for individuals, relay teams and Corporate Challenge teams wishing to participate in the second annual Nautica South Beach Triathlon on April 5. The triathlon, which benefits St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and is open to athletes of all levels, includes a half-mile ocean swim, 19-mile bike ride and a four-mile run. St. Jude is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.
The Corporate Challenge is an opportunity for employees to improve camaraderie and promote a healthier lifestyle while raising funds for the children of St. Jude. Corporate teams vie for the Corporate Cup, which is awarded to the team with the best overall race time. In addition, a trophy will be awarded to the corporate team that raises the most funds for St. Jude.
To participate in the Corporate Challenge, individuals and relay teams are responsible for the race entry fee plus a minimum of $150 per athlete in pledges/donations. Each team member is provided with a fundraising resource packet and information about St. Jude that can be shared with donors, tools to create their own personalized fundraising website and an online training program provided by Active.com.
The first 50 Corporate Challenge participants and St. Jude Heroes Charity Athletes to raise $4,000 will receive a free two-night stay at Loews Miami Beach Hotel and two roundtrip AirTran tickets. Other incentives such as gift cards, airline vouchers and hotel vouchers are also available for reaching certain fundraising levels.
Events held in conjunction with the Nautica South Beach Triathlon include a beach expo on April 4 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a kids run and tot trot at 10 a.m. on race day.
