The Marine Industries Association of South Florida announced that the 32nd Annual Waterway Cleanup is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 at 36 cleanup sites across Broward. The event’s new tagline “Where Green Meets Blue” reflects the ideals of environmental responsibility that the marine industry community wants to focus on, according to a statement.
Waterway Cleanup has long been recognized as Broward’s largest environmental cleanup effort and annually draws broad-based business and community support and participation.
“Last year the event brought together over 2,000 community volunteers who were able to collect over 35 tons of trash and debris,” said Ruth Myles, Waterway Cleanup committee chair for the MIASF.
The cleanup is touted as an integral part of MIASF’s initiative “Our Waterways, Our Future… Our Responsibility.”
The MIASF is a not-for-profit trade organization created in 1961 to promote and protect the growth of the marine industry in South Florida. The association has more than 800 members in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach and owns the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
